Talking about importance of breast health, Doctor Pixie McKenna famous for her show Channel 4 show Embarrassing Bodies made an exclusive appearance at Moda the UK’s largest show in the intimate apparel industry.
Doctor Pixie McKenna who has over 13 years of medical experience in the NHS and private health care sector presented on Moda’s main stage talking about the importance of exercise and the topic of investigating breast health and sports bra support.
Nicola King from sports bra brand Freya Active also joined Doctor Pixie McKenna to talk about the world leading breast research study it has conducted – Freya Active’s new study which was carried out by scientists at the University of Portsmouth has scientifically proven the brands new sports bra reduces breast pain, strain and independent breast movement felt during exercise. Modelling the new sports bra for Freya Active was sports professional and England Netball star Sasha Corbin – to showcase the style of the new bra.
Freya Active’s research is the very first of its kind studying the 3 aspects of strain, pain and independent movement at multiple locations of the breast (applying up to 19 markers on the breast) testing across 7 different bra sizes from cup size participants from a 32FF to 36E.
Ann-Marie Manley, Head of Marketing at Freya Active said: “Up to now, we’ve only had limited knowledge about the breast during exercise and we really wanted to investigate further. For us, being larger cup size specialists it was vital our study was conducted on a large number of larger cup size women and a cross section of other bra styles. It was great that Doctor Pixie McKenna was able to highlight how the breast being a barrier to exercise is still such a current issue that women deal with and that she was able to raise awareness of maintaining breast health with everyone at Moda.”
Since Freya launched its sportswear arm in 2008, Freya Active has gone from strength to strength offering innovative non compression, bust separation sports bras with unrivalled fit, support and comfort up to an H cup. The launch of its new research study and crop top sports bra marks a milestone in the brands history.
