What a difference a year makes! 0

This time last year my personal blog was only five months old and I had just found out that I had won the Blog Star competition that Freya had run, so that I could write for this wonderful blog.

I remember feeling very nervous as to what would be expected of me and would I be good enough?

It was lovely to know that you guys had voted me in.

Since that time, the blog has moved forward more than I can ever have imagined. I started writing as a release from being a stay at home Mummy to three under two at the the time! My life was hectic and tiring but fun, however I missed that bit of me time. That reflective element and that challenge and sense of achievement you get from work. I never expected it to lead to freelance writing and more than that I never expected to start another blog called Science Sparks, that it would lead to setting up my own business (it is early stages mind you, and actually not making any money yet, but we live in hope!)

When I tell my friends what is happening, I am not sure they totally get it, and in fact I think they think I am slightly mad!

I kind of understand it. You see, I have gone into business partnership with another parent blogger. A person who I have now met lots of times, but actually met through twitter and via her own blog! It does sound strange. Lets face it, some people are still odd about internet dating, so internet business partnership is probably a little extreme! Her name is Emma and she is just lovely – I am so thankful to have met someone that is such a geek as me!

What a difference a year makes, Multiple Mummy

However in the nine months that we have written and produced Science Sparks - an online resource for parents so they can engage in science activities in the home, it has gone from strength to strength!

We are now up for two National awards from the MAD blog awards, for Most Innovative blog and Best Schooldays blog and My blog Multiple Mummy is up for Best Family Fun blog!

In addition to that my blog is a finalist for blogger of the year by Loved by parents! I am so amazed, I really cannot believe it.

I am so flattered that people enjoy what I write and like to read about my family life. I am inspired and motivated that people to to engage in science with their kids at home. It is all about the wow factor and is a subject we really need to encourage so we can progress and develop. I love that you enjoy my waffling on the Freya blog and I love being able to test out the range for you (obviously it is a tough job, but one I am prepared to put myself through it for you guys! )

If you wanted to spare us a vote for any of the awards I would be so grateful!

Last week I was lucky enough to have been invited by Freya along to the MOBO Awards show in Glasgow, Scotland. My first thoughts were: ‘Crumbs, what am I going to wear?!’ and ‘How am I going to contain myself amongst all the celebs? It was a tough job but somebody had to do it and I had one of the most amazing star-studded and bass-fuelled nights of my life! I arrived in Bristol to catch my flight on Tuesday 4th and after some panic dress and clutch bag buying boarded my plane, full to the brim with nerves and dreading the inevitable delay or terrible even curse which seems to haunt me when I’m due someplace important at a certain time which leads to nothing but shredded nerves and smudged nail varnish (but that’s another story!) Amazingly, nothing dreadful or unfortunate happened on my travels to Glasgow (other than perhaps embarrassing myself when I got really excited by a man wearing a kilt in the airport *cringe*) and I found I had a few hours to do a bit more panic shopping in Glasgow city centre, paint my nails and watch the Alan Titchmarsh show in my hotel room. Nerves and excitement aside, I teetered on my stilettos to the SECC Arena in Glasgow, retrieved my press pass and hall ticket and marched past all the screaming fans to the red carpet area to get my Tweet on for Freya. Prima Fashion Awards 2011 0

Well,I have been a very spoiled girl this week as the Freya team invited me to join them at the Prima Fashion Awards held at Battersea Evolution Marquee in London.

This was the 17th Comfort Prima High street fashion awards and attracted over 100o guests this year! The theme this year was Bright and Whites and this was very much reflected in the decoration of the marquee.
