Freya at the MOBO Awards 2012

On Saturday night I was lucky enough to get a red carpet pass to the MOBO Awards in Liverpool at The Echo Arena with the fabulous Freya team!! Freya were backstage in the VIP area with their amazing travelling Freya Bra Booth handing out lingerie goody bags, bra fittings and underwear advice to the stars and their dancers. Talk about bras for the stars!

I have to say deciding what to wear was a slight drama – even in my role as a personal shopper for My Style Companion! I had been so busy with personal shopping appointments with clients that (as usual) I had no time to work out my own outfit (the hazards of being a personal shopper I’m afraid). However I pulled out my favourite AW12 McQ feather dress by Alexander McQueen and decided that was a winner – I wanted to go for a more relaxed urban ‘red carpet’ vibe rather than the usual glitz and glamour. However at the end of summer I wore this dress with nude peep toes and a nude blazer and realised that at minus three degrees, I may need something warmer for my feet and arms seeing as I would be standing next to the River Mersey!

Rediscover Netball with Freya Active

Rediscover Netball with Freya Active 0

Freya Active for NetballRecently I discovered a load of old workbooks from junior school when having a clear out – it’s so funny to read who I was at the ages of 4 – 7! Let’s just say I had quite an imagination! Thinking back evoked memories of what I used to love doing as a kid, such as playing the piano, dancing and playing netball after school with my pals. Funny how I had completely lost my passion for those things in my grumpy teenage years, but in my 30s, I am re-discovering my love for hobbies I had as a child (or maybe I just never grew up!)

The trip down my memory lane of hobbies-gone-by led me to interview Joanna Blain who is the Founder of Play Simple Netball, a social netball league with nearly 100 teams playing in leagues across Manchester and Liverpool. I wanted to see if netball is still a hobby I could take up now, at the age of (nearly, not yet!) 32, and with Freya as the official partner to the England Team, it seemed like the obvious thing to do, as I need lots of excuses to buy Freya Active Wear! 5 Tips to Update Your Wardrobe

5 Tips to Update Your Wardrobe 0

Kids are back at school and even though our British summer has been somewhat unpredictable in terms of weather, it’s relatively safe to say that we know what to expect when it comes to weather for autumn and winter. When you leave the house to drop the kids off one day and you find yourself shivering whilst wearing your much-loved spring jacket (that has been a ss12 staple) you may realise that you are in no way prepared for autumn (emotionally, mentally or physically). Yikes.

Just the smallest bit of preparation before autumn kicks in can mean that you can make the most of all the great stock available in the shops and avoid wasting money on clothes that you aren’t ever going to wear. It’s also a very therapeutic and cleansing way to start the new season!

Love Your Tummy!

Love Your Tummy! 1

In my job as a personal shopper for My Style Companion I work with a LOT of women, often getting to know them on a rather personal level. Over the years I have come to learn that a common issue a lot of us girls suffer from is dreaded ‘IBS’. Not only does this condition make you feel unhealthy and sluggish, but IBS can take over your life when it comes down to the knock on effect that IBS has on your confidence and even down to what you feel comfortable wearing (physically and emotionally)!! The tummy has definitely been an area of the body that a lot of women have wanted to change.

So over the past 10 or so years I’ve suffered terribly (as many of us girls do!) from severe ‘IBS’ as the doctors refer to it as.  After countless visits to doctors and hospitals, with no joy at resolving the issue, I’ve further developed as a result of this condition, some hormonal problems (the joys of being a woman) that have affected my weight, skin, hair, not to mention the fact that I just generally most of the time feel rather rubbish. Talk about not feeling yourself :(  More

Nothing to Wear?

Nothing to Wear? 0

You wouldn’t believe how many times I hear the words “I have nothing to wear!” every week!  Women at the end of their tether who are sick of uttering these five little words (or sometimes their husbands or boyfs who have heard these words one too many times end up calling on their behalf!)

So this week, dedicated to all those women who are stood in front of their wardrobes, huffing and puffing, surrounded by a pile of clothes on the floor, close to tears because from their three bulging wardrobes, they can’t find one outfit they want to wear, I’ve published my first book, cunningly entitled ‘Nothing to Wear!’

I have to say, writing this book has been somewhat trying. I love to write and blog, but compiling every experience I’ve ever had with a client in to a ‘how to’ manual for women who want to achieve a wardrobe they love, has not been easy.
