Thanks for contacting the Bra Doctor.
We suggest you try either a moulded or half cup bra for a supportive fit and great uplift.Advising your size by measurements is not recommended as this is found to be around 70% incorrect. Visit your nearest Freya stockist and ask for a professional fitting and some advice on styles to suit your bust shape.
Our swimwear sizes are based on the same sizing as lingerie however due to the different fabrics used there may be some variation. Your alternate size from 40DD is 38E. You could perhaps try both sizes for comfort.
It sounds as though you may be wearing the incorrect back size in your bra. Your band should be the same level all the way around your body as this is where most of the support will come from. You might benefit from a bra fitting to ensure you're wearing the correct size. Why not visit your nearest Freya stockist to be professionally fitted into the correct size and style for you.
It sounds like you are wearing the wrong bra size. The wires between the breasts should sit against your skin andthe band should be level all the way around your body with only space for two fingers between the material and you.If you have been professionally fitted at a 32D and the bra feels comfortable and supportive this will be your new bra size. The band will loosen over time due to wearing and washing which is why we recommend new bras should fit on the loosest hook at first so that they can be tightened, this way your bra will last longer.
Yes an XL is a UK size 16/18 with the 2XL being 18/20 and the L being a 14/16.
A plunge balcony bra has the features of both the plunge and balcony bras. Wide set straps, medium coverage in the cup and a lower centre at the front.
We have a selection of half cup bras here in various patterns and colours that come in size 30H.
The Dotty has a lovely soft fabric and no underwire giving you maximum support and comfort in one.
Also we have the Deco Soft Cup Bra which is moulded for a seamless look. This does not come in a 36GG but it does come in your alternate size of 38G.
We're sorry to hear that you're having discomfort with your bra. Estimating your bra size by measurement is never recommended, a professional fitting where possible is always best.
You may be wearing the incorrect bra size or possibly the wrong style for your bust shape. Please see here for our style guide and also our fitting video.
Your current alternate size is a 30GG. Alternatively to that you could try decreasing your cup size but keep your back size the same, this would be a 32FF.
It's estimated that 80% of women are in the wrong size bra, but it's easy to find the right fit every time. See our quick video guide.
