Thanks for contacting the Bra Doctor.
If the underwire has come through the casing this may be due to the way it has been washed. To keep your lingerie looking as beautiful, comfortable and supportive as the day you bought it, we recommend that you hand wash in warm water only with a touch of detergent.
It’ll mean the delicate laces and embroidery will last longer and the Lycra won’t degrade as quickly and weaken the support that the garment offers you.
We also suggest that you don’t dry clean, iron, bleach or tumble dry your lingerie. Hand washing may seem more time consuming, but it makes your garment last much longer and is worth the extra effort.
The slip dress size will be based on the bra back size. So a 32 back is based around a size 10 dress size, 34 is a size 12 and 36 is a size 14. As it is shape wear designs to smooth the silhouette there will only be a little elastication in it.
Have you tried Idol, Starlet or Rapture? These are all plain black plunge balcony bras available up to a K cup.
All of our styles are based on the same sizing however different ranges can fit differently due to the different styles and fabrics used. To ensure you get the perfect fit we would always recommend that you do go to your local stockist to be fitted and to try the bra on before purchasing.
Please see here for your nearest stockist.
We love the Rio which offers outstanding support without maximising the bust.
We love the Deco soft cup bra which will still give a good level of support.
However if you find the band is too restrictive next to your injured ribs you may like to try Freya Fancies. This new range is bringing out a bralette next month which may be perfect for you.
Sadly this season we do not have any red bikinis aside Resort and have no plans to bring out the In the Mix range in red.
We love the Faye and the Hero, both of which offer good coverage and excellent support.
Do ensure your bras are handwashed so they last longer and the lycra won't degrade as quickly. Often the underwire will come out on bras that are washed in a washing machine.
The balcony bras are generally always designed with a fabric bottom cup to ensure adequate support. Up to a G cup the top part of the cup is normally lace which will give a lighter look to the bra as well as making it look pretty. In the larger cup sizes - GG+ this lace is always lined to ensure adequate support is given.
We have the Freya Active Moulded Sports Bra available in nude here, which would be most similar to a blush or taupe colour.
