Thanks for contacting the Bra Doctor.
We normally recommend that you have the same bra size for swimwear as for lingerie. The sizing is based on the same measurements however different styles can fit differently.
Some women prefer to go up on the back size so the fit is not as tight as their lingerie, if you do then you will need to come down in the cup so your size would be 40DD.
It is most likely to be the band. If the bra is comfortable and fits correctly I would hesitate to increase the size. However the increased 'back fat' is likely due to the tightness of the band. If you do go up in the back then you'll need to come down in the cup so your size will be 34E.
All of our styles are based on the same sizing however different ranges can fit differently due to the different styles and fabrics used. To ensure you get the perfect fit we would always recommend that you do go to your local stockist to be fitted and to try the bra or bikini top on before purchasing. You can find your nearest Freya stockist here.
The Rio in nude is now available to order online - please see here.
Thanks for contacting the Bra Doctor.
Please check with the returns policy of the stockist to see if you are able to return the bra for refund or exchange as it does not fit.
It sounds like you might benefit from a bra fitting to ensure you're wearing the correct size and style for your bust. Why not visit your nearest Freya stockist and ask our fitting consultant for a bra fitting and to suggest a bra style suited to your bust shape. You can find your nearest Freya stockist here.
A 32DDDD will be equivalent to a UK 32G. The sweetheart padded bikini top will provide excellent support and coverage and so is a very good choice for her.
It is very difficult to tell your true size from measurements because they are found to be around 70% incorrect. We would recommend going to your nearest Freya stockist to be professionally fitted, find your nearest store here.
I would recommend visiting your nearest Freya stockist to be fitted to ensure you are wearing not only the correct size but also correct style for your bust and body shape. If the wires are sticking into you this would indicate the cup size is not the correct size for you. You can find your nearest Freya stockist here.
We love the Patsy half cup which offers excellent cleavage and does not come up too high.
A banded bikini top has the band usually continuous from the back round to the front and between the cups. A bandless bikini usually has a narrow strip of material linking the 2 cups at the front.
A banded bikini offers more support and anchorage and will generally go up to larger cup sizes.
It's estimated that 80% of women are in the wrong size bra, but it's easy to find the right fit every time. See our quick video guide.
